You’ve probably noticed the latest addition to the family of buttons on the Welcome! text box in the side-bar. This button is a paypal donation button. You see, I don’t write this blog for profit. I don’t want to sell anything I write – I don’t think I could if I tried, and I don’t think it’d be fair to anyone. I write because I love writing and I love playing games, and I want to share what I know, what I’ve learned and what I feel with everyone. Everything I do on this blog I put up for free, for everyone to see and to use and to enjoy. But Wyatt’s never been through easy times, especially with college lumbering over his head all the time. While I don’t expect much to come from it, that’s why I added the paypal button on the side there, in the hopes that some small reward can help me stay up and not have to take a part-time job or something. I’ve been blessed that I haven’t had to yet and have been able to concentrate on my studies and my passions, and I hope the time when that blessing ends isn’t near, but I’m not even close to being a rich man. It’s been through hard work and generosity that I’ve been able to.
This fund is going towards my lunches or snacks in college, and other minor related expenses, more than likely, so there’s no sinister plan here and no money-grubbingness. If I get enough donations, I may even divert some to buying an RPG book that I can vouch for its usefulness, and holding some kind of contest for it, but that’s something for the future.
Paypal takes 30 cents and 1.9 to 2.9% of every transaction, so something like 4-5 bucks per donation means I don’t get dicked out of that much of what I gain (unlike say, 1 dollar donations), but I don’t believe in setting fixed amounts for donations (which paypal donate buttons can do), because I might as well just be asking you to pay me. So you can donate whatever amount you want using the link. I don’t know if Paypal has minimums for transactions, but whatever their minimum happens to be, from there and up is what you can donate.
So if you want to give Wyatt a donation because you like the blog, then you’re welcome to, and I’ll be super happy. If they want to be, Donators will be put on an Awesome List that will have its page created sometime in the future, and if I ever get around to making a PDF version of some of my stuff, I’ll personally email it (if I have their email) to each of them for their help before releasing it to anyone else. Paypal is totally secure, or I wouldn’t be doing this through them, and it’s very easy to use. My account is officially paypal verified, so you know there’s no scam here.
I’m working on more stuff in the blog. It’s slowed down, but that’s because of the holidays. More is on the way, and all of it will be free as it always has been, and hopefully all of it will be fun and helpful for you, the readers who’ve made all this happen, and got us to 2000 hits in like a month.
